Walaa’s innovation functions through three core components: a biosensor employing multiplexed laser-scribed graphene electrodes (LSGEs), directly link to the second component, KAUSTat, a miniature potentiostat which wirelessly interfaces with a smartphone.

Its uniqueness lies in its rapid detection of multiple critical cardiac biomarkers within 15 minutes, offering high sensitivity for early and precise diagnosis of heart attacks and heart disease. It stands out with its user-friendly design, eliminating the need for expert intervention. The seamless connectivity between the biosensor, KAUSTat, and smartphone ensures quick and accessible results, empowering users with timely health insights for proactive decision-making. In addition, the biosensor is made of a low-cost polyamide sheet (laser-scribed graphene electrode), making it affordable and cost-effective for large-scale production.
