Peter Rowe

Peter Rowe is the CEO of Deep Branch, a carbon recycling biotechnology company aiming to secure the global food system by meeting demand for food and feed sustainably without compromising nutrition or quality.

Producing protein directly from industrial emissions, the company’s proprietary gas fermentation platform, (R)evolve, uses carbon dioxide and hydrogen as clean and renewable carbon and energy sources to deliver next-generation bio-based products. The single-cell protein, Proton, has been developed for the animal feed industry where it is used as an environmentally friendly alternative to soy or fishmeal. 

Made from locally sourced ingredients, it has a bespoke nutritional profile and is designed to tackle the climate emergency by reducing the food industry’s impact on biodiversity loss. The platform uses sustainable and scalable feedstocks and its locally produced ingredients have up to 60% smaller carbon footprints than traditional alternatives with no arable land requirements and minimal water usage.

Passionate about the nexus of technology and business, Rowe has worked in technical and commercial biotechnology roles in the Netherlands, Spain, and the UK. He holds a Ph.D. in Molecular Microbiology and is a certified AgTech consultant and Innovation Management expert.
