"Eduardo Labarca, on the basis of the famous premise from Jacques Cousteau, ""we cannot love what we do not know"", is aiming to gamify deep sea diving. He has designed a set of submarine robots that can be controlled via computer or iPad to discover marine life and underwater land at 300 meters below sea level, and as such, transform diving and knowledge of the ocean into an activity accessible to everyone.
Serial entrepreneur Eduardo Labarca founded his first technological startup at the age of 23, and since then has set up another four. His first company received backing from the US Department of Defense and the Chilean Navy to develop a robotized submarine system with 3D vision and augmented reality capabilities.
He was awarded on several occasions by the Chilean IEEE Robotics Competition, and Made in Chile ranked his project among the top 50 Cases of Innovation in 2010. Labarca also received Microsoft´s Prize for Best Tech Project, Chile Empresario (business plan competition) and the prize 'Concurso de Patentes Tecnología y Negocios' (Technology and Business Patent Competition) from CONICYT in conjunction with USM."
