Alejandro San Martín

"Alejandro San Martín, a Medical Technology graduate from the Austral University of Chile and doctorate student in Molecular and Cellular Biology, has developed a new tool that will enable the generation and application of knowledge to understand and combat cancer.

San Martín has developed a nanosensor that, by using fluorescent proteins, will determine if potential antitumor drugs would be effective. Awaiting an international patent, this new tool has already caught the eye of the pharmaceutical industry. San Martín, who has received backing on several occasions from CONICYT to develop his research, is now working on evolving this nanosensor so that it can be used in the study of other important molecules that could help the discovery of new medication to treat cancer and diabetes."
