Johann Kalchman and his company, Lifeaz, are bringing life saving defibrillators into the home. According to Kalchman, about 80% of cardiac arrests happen at home and if action is not taken in four minutes, chances of survival diminish significantly, and in most urban areas it takes an average of 10 minutes for emergency services to arrive on scene. The appropriately titled “Life Box” home defibrillator provides a safety net for anyone who experiences a sudden cardiac arrest at home. This easy to use and maintain device will have the capacity to save countless lives. But beyond just developing hardware, Lifeaz is establishing a community and social movement around cardiovascular prevention and awareness to create a healthier world.
